Remote
Equipment Monitoring (REM) is a Wire
One hosted service to proactively monitor:
- endpoints
- routers (router interface only)
- gatekeepers
- gateways
- IP/ISDN network
- select MCUs
REM provides a lower-cost,
no-software solution
that allows technical support staff -- either
your staff or Wire One's -- to focus
on resolving issues before they cause impact
to your video conference.

How does REM do
this? Video conference
endpoints and other devices communicate
their status to a server that resides within
Wire One's network. A variety of secure
network options are available for this communication
(see Security & Network FAQ). There
is no need to install software
or server hardware on your
own premise and then
pay for software upgrades and extended
service.
When a monitored device goes
into a state of alert,
it sends a message which is relayed to
up to five email addresses or email-capable
cell phones. The device will then automatically
open a trouble ticket with Wire One's Help
Desk application. A technician then has
the opportunity to troubleshoot the issue
before the problem interferes with a video conference.
Both alert emails and trouble ticket creation
are configurable parameters, so while you
don't have to worry about system maintenance,
you do maintain control.
The
end-result? Fewer late
starts,happier video conference end-users,
and increased video conference system
ROI. |
